How the Pages in the Course Work
This picture shows a typical course page. The screen elements are described below.
- Breadcrumbs—This shows you where you are in the course. You can click on the links to return to a previous page.
You are here: Home » Competency 1 » Changes in U.S. Perspectives on Alcohol Use
- Competency Menu—This lists the competencies. You can move from one competency to another by clicking on the competency you want.
- Drop-Down Menu—This menu lists all the section titles in a competency in a drop-down format. This format allows you to select pages either randomly or in sequence. Hitting the GO button takes you directly to the competency section you have selected.
- Content—This area contains the page content. Each page contains the competency title, section title, and page number, as well as the total number of pages in the competency.
- Pages—This navigation aid allows you to move from page-to-page within a competency, just like turning the pages in a chapter of a book.

How Pretests and Posttests Test Your Knowledge Quizzes Work
Each competency has a pretest at the beginning and a posttest at the end called "Test Your Knowledge." The pretest enables you to see how much you know about a topic. You can skip the pretest and go straight to the competency. The posttest helps you see whether you've learned the competency content.
Certificate of Completion
At the conclusion of Curriculum for Addiction Professionals (CAP): Level 1, you will be able to download and print a Certificate of Completion (which you then will need to fill in with your name and the date) stating that you have completed 7 hours of training. To receive a certificate, you will need to complete all seven modules.
If you want to obtain CEUs, you will need to submit the Certificate of Completion and a printout of the module objectives to your licensing body, along with any information required by them.

How To Use the Glossary
The Glossary provides definitions of terms used in the course. You can click on the Glossary button at any time on the competency menu on the left of the screen to look up a term. Glossary terms are also highlighted in the text and are different from regular linked text as they are underlined with broken (dotted) lines. You can click on a highlighted term to go to the term in the Glossary.
